TAYLOR SWIFT SPEAKS OUT ABOUT LGBTQ+ RIGHTS

      The twenty-eight-year-old singer-songwriter Taylor Swift recently broke her career's political silence. Swift took to Instagram to publicize her support for Senate candidate, Phil Bredesen. She spoke out about LGBTQ+ rights saying, "I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG." Swift continued, saying that Bredesen's opposition, Martha Blackburn's values "terrify" her. Taylor also brought up Blackburn’s voting record, where Swift said that “She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values.” However, Taylor Swift stated that individuals should vote for the candidate whose values best represent the voters’ views. I believe that Swift speaking out about these political values, and what she believes is right or wrong is important because it will involve more of the younger population in the election.
